Constipation has become a common problem for people in today’s daily life. It is so common that many of us overlook it. But do you know that regular constipation can also lead to pelvic diseases and many stomach diseases. This makes the attitude towards the problem extremely important. To do this, let us understand its causes and symptoms.
What is the cause of constipation?
Hypothyroidism: The thyroid gland – An under-active thyroid or hypothyroidism is one of the reasons for constipation and weight gain.
Unhealthy diet: This is one of the major causes of chronic constipation in adults. Not eating on time and consuming processed foods and refined food products as a diet causes constipation.
Not drinking enough water: Dehydration causes constipation. 75% of the body is made up of water. Water helps to keep the stool soft and moves the bowel movement forward. When you don’t drink enough water, the intestines absorb more water and this makes the stool hard and dry.

Constipation treatment by yoga
Pranayama: This is a very effective exercise in which the abdominal muscles are exercised through breathing and the movement of the abdomen helps in improving the digestive system. Regular practice of Pranayama cures other diseases like stomach disorders, insomnia, acidity and reduces belly fat.
Vajrasana: This yoga provides uniform posture stability and corrects posture defects. Improves blood circulation in the abdominal region – helps in improving digestion.
Halasana: This pose helps to strengthen the back muscles and reduce tension. It stimulates the abdominal viscera and organs and aids in better digestion.
Dhanurasana: This asana strengthens the entire abdominal organs. People suffering from gas and digestive problems should practice Dhanurasana regularly.
