Thyroid has become a common disorder these days like blood pressure and diabetes. Thyroid problems are one of the main reasons for weight gain and hormonal imbalance. A healthy lifestyle, which includes good nutrition and regular exercise, can help you live well with thyroid disease. In fact, adding yoga to your routine can help improve your thyroid function and benefit overall health.

There are mainly two types of thyroid disorders – hypothyroidism (not having enough thyroid hormone) and hyperthyroidism (having too much thyroid hormone). One of the main reasons for this is due to stress in our daily life. The thyroid gland produces hormones that affect almost all metabolic processes in your body.

How is thyroid done?

Broadly speaking, the only direct cause of these conditions is an imbalance in the secretion of thyroid hormones. But there can be several reasons that lead to that imbalance in the first place:

An autoimmune disorder called Hashimoto’s thyroiditis is one of the most common causes. Iodine deficiency in the body Radiation therapy to treat cancer in the head or neck can also directly affect the thyroid gland located in the neck.

Symptoms of diabetes

  • Increased the thirst
  • Frequent urination
  • Extreme hunger
  • Unexplained weight loss
  • Presence of ketones in urine
  • Tiredness
  • Irritability
  • Blurred vision
  • slow healing wounds
  • Frequent infections, such as gum or
  • skin infections and vaginal infections

Symptoms of thyroid disease

Due to the interconnected nature of the endocrine system, as it affects other functions in the body, as well as the variety of problems that can arise, the symptoms of thyroid disease can be many and varied:

Persistent fatigue – this is especially common in hypothyroidism when there is a lack of adequate hormone regulation by the gland.

Feelings of anxiety and nervousness – this is usually caused by an overactive thyroid gland (hyperthyroidism), and can be one of the most common symptoms of thyroid disease.

frequent chills – less active thyroid secretion can sometimes lead to an inability to cope with cold temperatures

Menstrual disturbances – Women with hypothyroidism may experience an unusually heavy flow during their periods, and their periods may be more frequent than usual. On the other hand, hyperthyroidism can sometimes lead to a complication that results in the cycle stopping completely.

Yoga easy for the treatment of thyroid disorder

Sarvangasana:  Due to the inverted posture in this particular posture, the blood flows from the legs to the head region which helps in reducing the thyroid.

Halasana: This exercise compresses the neck, thereby stimulating the stomach and thyroid glands

Matsyasana: This asana provides gentle treatment adapted to the needs of thyroid patients, reduces stress levels and reduces stiffness of muscles and joints. It helps to relax the body and prevent mood swings and depression that thyroid can cause.

Dhanurasana: This yoga massages the thyroid gland and forces it to produce thyroid hormones in the required amount to regulate metabolism. Thus it is an effective mudra for treating hypothyroidism.
