Yoga for Detox – How does it work?
Most active forms of exercise stimulate all three elimination systems, helping your body to detox and cleanse itself. But yoga methodically focuses on stretching and compressing every part of the body, and is, therefore, more appropriate. It helps in waste removal.
If we do yoga properly, we stretch, push, twist every part of the body, and it deeply eliminates carbon dioxide, lactic acid and lymphatic fluid, where other types of Exercises fail to do it all. Yoga not only helps in physical detoxification, but it is also helpful in mental detoxification.
Asanas That Help You Detox
Garudasana: This asana gives a good stretch to the calves, ankles, knees, hips, thighs, upper back and shoulders. When you press your thighs firmly together, there is an increase in blood circulation, and this helps to flush out toxins in the lymph and blood.
Adho Mukha Svanasana: In this, your heart is kept higher than your head. When you do this there is a reverse pull of gravity, and it aids in proper circulation of lymph and blood.
Ardha Matsyendrasana: Twists are a wonderful detox agent, and Ardha Matsyendrasana is a perfect twist. It stimulates digestion and helps remove impurities from the body.
Viparita Karani: It increases the circulation of lymph and blood in the legs and feet. It also calms the nervous system, hence reduces stress and leads to mental detoxification.
